Ben Coffey Advanced Practice Physiotherapist and Clinical Director
Ben joined the Surrey Physio Group in 2013 after selling his own successful physiotherapy and osteopathy company in Annecy, France and moving with his family so the children could continue their education in the UK. He has 28 years of experience as a physiotherapist, is a French qualified osteopath, and specialises in all musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries. Ben grew up in the French Alps and is a very experienced endurance runner and cyclist having competed in numerous ultramarathons. He specialises in correct running technique and correct cycling position to prevent injury and improve performance for athletes of all levels. He has helped many runners and cyclists over the years to resolve their chronic injuries and improve their strength, endurance, and speed. This also involves lifestyle and nutritional advice.
Ben is officially recognised as an ‘Advanced’ practitioner through NHS England’s Centre for Advancing Practice. As an advanced practitioner, Ben is a specialist injection-therapist and non medical prescriber having performed over 8000 injection procedures including aspirations. Ben is the lead physiotherapist for Farnborough Football Club Women’s First Team.
Bernardo Leal Senior Physiotherapist
Bernardo Leal is a dedicated Portuguese sports physiotherapist specialising in sports injury rehabilitation and performance in sports. His career took off with a professional volleyball team and working with professional footballers, sparking his passion for sports physiotherapy. Bernardo emphasises a holistic treatment approach, based on therapeutic exercise, integrating lifestyle changes, exercise monitoring, nutrition and psychosocial factors to manage pain and dysfunction. He’s committed to empowering individuals to achieve a healthy, active lifestyle doing the things they enjoy. Bernardo is a physiotherapist for Farnborough FC Women’s First Team.
Malcolm Hunter Senior Physiotherapist
Malcolm qualified as a physiotherapist in 2010 in South Africa. He has a keen interest in sports specific physiotherapy and has traveled with international athletes as well as international sports teams. He has trained further in techniques like dry needling and orthopaedic manipulations as well as qualifying as an injection therapist after moving to the UK. He has a special interest in shoulder pathologies which he bases off of his own shoulder injuries while competing in swimming and triathlon events. In the photo above he did the swimming leg of the 2023 London Triathlon at a blistering pace as part of our team to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital! He has completed multiple marathons as well as endurance races and is currently competing in masters open water events.
Jade Graham Senior Physiotherapist
Jade joined Farnborough Physio after completing her degree at the University of Brighton. Being an ex competitive dancer and currently a 1st degree black belt in Tae-Kwon Do, she has an excellent understanding of complex injury mechanisms related to sport. Jade has worked as team lead at physiotherapy stations during the London Marathon and with Netball France at the Europe Netball Open Challenge. This has allowed her to widen her expertise with injuries from many different sporting backgrounds. Jade favours manual therapy in conjunction with other treatment modalities and always ensures that all patients from sporting and non-sporting backgrounds have a personalised and structured exercise programme that suits their own needs and lifestyle. Jade is an inspired and dedicated physiotherapist in our team who creates a welcoming and professional environment for all patients.
Felix Yellow Senior Physiotherapist
Felix graduated with a BSc in Physiotherapy from Budapest, Hungary in 2017. He moved to the UK in December 2021 to join the team at Farnborough Physio. He is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist but has a diverse background in physiotherapy having initially practiced for 3 years in neurological rehabilitation working with children and adults with neurological and developmental disorders. This experience has given him a unique perspective on treating complex conditions and tailoring his approach to each individual patient. Felix also has experience in sports rehabilitation. As a hands-on therapist, he is known for his ability to create positive changes in his patients’ conditions through manual techniques, earning him the nickname “Healing Hands”. He is also a trained acupuncturist and massage therapist allowing him to offer a holistic approach to treatment. In his free time, Felix enjoys staying active through table tennis, gym, and playing football. His passion for physical activity and his dedication to his patients’ well-being make him a valuable asset to the team.
Alexandra Hillan Senior Physiotherapist
Alex developed an interest in becoming a physiotherapist as a result of a number of sports injuries in her teens. Alex studied physiotherapy at the University of Liverpool and, after graduating in 2020, she spent several years working in the NHS, both in Liverpool and Guildford, before choosing to specialise in musculoskeletal outpatients as a result of her personal interest in sports. Alex is a keen lacrosse player, having played competitively since she was 11. Alex works part time for the NHS at the Royal Surrey County Hospital alongside her part time role at Farnborough Physio. Alex adopts a holistic and personalised approach to treatment and management of patients’ musculoskeletal conditions using manual therapy techniques, prescribed exercises, and advice and education to address the cause of the pain and return patients to full function.
Jordan Thompson Senior Physiotherapist
Jordan has a Bachelors of Science in Sports Therapy and a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Her masters dissertation was a great research study on anterior cruciate ligament injuries in women’s football demonstrating a great understanding of injury and rehabilitation in sport. Jordan also plays as a striker for Farnborough Football Club Women’s first team and therefore is very experienced in sports preparation and rehabilitation. She always provides the highest standard of physiotherapy in the management of musculoskeletal problems and is excellent at adapting treatment and rehabilitation programs to suit the needs of every patient she sees.
Celine Coffey Receptionist – Administrator – Marketing
Celine is currently undertaking a degree in advertising and brand design but is available to work in reception at Milestone House three days per week. She is also responsible for the website design and photography for Farnborough Physio and the social media and official photography for Farnborough FC Women’s first Team. Gabrielle Coffey Receptionist
Gabby is currently studying Chemistry, Biology, and French at Farnborough 6th Form College. Earlier this year she spent a week at Farnborough Physio for workplace experience organised by her college and really enjoyed helping the physiotherapists and interacting with patients. She demonstrated a natural ability to communicate well with people and assist them with their appointments and queries. As a result of this she was very keen to do some part-time work and further her experience in the medical field. We are very happy to have her on board!
